A husband murdered his wife at home and then killed himself after the three young children’s screams were heard by the neighbors. The bodies were found at the family home in what police believe is a murder-suicide.
According to the detectives, the woman was attacked violently before the husband took his own life while the children were present in the home.
A neighbor in Oldbury called the police around 2pm because the children’s cries raised concerns. The police discovered a 26-year-old woman who had suffered fatal head injuries. A 30 year old man’s body was found in another room.
Inspector Jim Munro, West Midlands Police Detective, said that the police were not looking for any other person in connection with the deaths. The house is located just off Road End Road. It is a semi detached one in a newly-built estate.
“This is a truly tragic incident. It’s understood the woman was violently attacked before the offender took his own life. The timeline of exactly what happened is unclear but we believe the two people died during the morning. There were three children, including a small baby, present at the address when officers made the discovery – they are being looked after by loved ones and will receive specialist support,” said Munro.
A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said, “We confirmed a man and woman dead at the scene. Three children were transported to Sandwell District Hospital and they were uninjured.”
