North Korean Diplomat Jo Song Gil has gone ‘missing’ in Italy, reports from South Korea’s spy agency. Jo song Gil with his wife and children are thought to have been living in Rome before they disappeared.
It has been reported that his term was ending in late November last year and he escaped the diplomatic compound in early November with his family and is seeking asylum in the West but Rome has not confirmed this detail.
Jo Song Gil is the son and son-in law of high-ranking North Korean officials. He became acting ambassador after Italy expelled the former top diplomat in October 2017 to protest a North Korean nuclear test, says reports.
