Christchurch Shooting – Prince William To Meet The Affected Families On Behalf Of The Queen

At the request of New Zealand’s Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern, Prince William will travel to honor the victims of the Christchurch mosques terror attack and will also meet those affected by it. The Christchurch mosque attack left 50 people dead as a gunman opened fire on worshippers at the Masjid Al Noor and Linwood Masjid on March 15. This is the worst mass shooting in New Zealand’s history.

“I’m really pleased that he can make a short visit to support those affected by the attack and pay tribute to the extraordinary compassion and solidarity that New Zealanders have displayed in recent weeks … The visit will be another sign that this nation will always stand with those affected by the terror attacks, and the people of Christchurch,” Ardern said.

On Friday, a national remembrance service will be held for the victims in which Ardern will be present along with Prince William. Following the Christchurch attacks, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Sussex said in a joint message:  “We have all been fortunate to spend time in Christchurch and have felt the warm, open-hearted and generous spirit that is core to its remarkable people … No person should ever have to fear attending a sacred place of worship.”
